WIL initiated and implemented many welfare activities for the society in and around Walchandnagar since 1934 long before CSR became mandatory requirement under company laws. Pioneering efforts in providing free education in rural area in 1934. Nine primary schools in each Agriculture Estate and a high school were established in Walchandnagar, providing education of highest standards. The number of school-going children currently is 4450 and education is provided in both Marathi & English medium.
