Engineering for tomorrow
With nation building at the core of its existence, Walchandnagar industries Limited (WIL) has made significant contributions to building a stronger India – on land, air and water – aligning itself to the requirements of the Ministry of Defence.
WIL is one of the pioneering industries to have partnered with Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Ministry of Defence in the quest for indigenous development of strategic articles, tactical missiles and critical platform based equipment.
We have an excellent track record in handling exotic materials & alloys, viz.,
- Aluminum alloys
- Nickel alloys
- Non-ferrous materials like cobalt alloys, incoloy, Inconel, nickel & monel
- AB2PKM
- Super Duplex Stainless Steels
- Stainless Steel
- Titanium
Developing our own technology, constantly improving technical processes, adopting the latest manufacturing processes and continuously training our workforce to harness cutting edge technology have been the building blocks in our growth trajectory. |
Land Systems

|
WIL was selected by DRDO as its industry partner for developing launchers – both trailer and wagon mounted – for strategic articles. In addition, development of vehicle based systems to meet strategic requirements is being undertaken.

Naval Systems
Strategic Platforms
The Containerized Launcher System for the strategic submarine programme has been successfully developed through reverse engineering. This has been a major step towards indigenous manufacturing capability of such mission critical systems. WIL has been accorded PAC (Proprietary Article Certificate) status by Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) and is a key player for maintaining fighting efficiency of the platform. |
 |
The team of highly dedicated and skilled manpower has made WIL the only competent Indian firm to undertake aggregation and installation of the Main Power Plant onboard strategic submarines. Having successfully completed two such installations, WIL has acquired rich experience in executing similar highly complex and technologically challenging tasks. Certain complicated engineering equipment of the Main Power Plant having exotic materials of construction have been developed and their performance has been successfully proven at sea.
|
Tactical Platforms
Pressure hull components (viz., Access Trunk and Cupola for P75 class submarines) have been manufactured by WIL. Trained manpower is available for undertaking fabrication of such critical structures.
Gear Boxes
WIL has been manufacturing Main Propulsion Gear units and heavy duty custom built gear units as drop replacements (single & double helical) for marine applications. Backed by a team of highly qualified engineers and a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, WIL has carved a niche for itself in the marine propulsion gear box segment. The marine propulsion gear boxes have been performing satisfactorily over all regimes of operation. |
Aerial Systems
WIL has developed the expertise to manufacture air borne launchers mounted on aircrafts. The first of the series of air borne launchers has been delivered.
In the nation’s thrust towards indigenization, WIL has been nominated by IHQ Ministry of Defence (Air) to indigenize critical components of Mi-17 series helicopters. |

Modular Bridges
35 Metre Mountain Foot Bridge

WIL acquired the technology from DRDO in Jan 2018 for manufacture of 35 meter mountain Foot Bridge which is ideally suited for operational use by Defence Forces, as well as for Disaster Relief purposes. The bridge is ideal for enabling access to remote areas.

|
Unique features of this bridge are:
- The bridge can span gaps upto 33m with pathway of 0.8 m width.
- No civil works are required to be carried out on either bank prior to launching of the bridge.
- The bridge is made of high strength Aluminum alloy components such that each component is man-portable and weighs less than 18 kg.
- The bridge can be launched in about 75 minutes during day and 90 minutes during night with 30 men.
- This bridge is meant for use in all weather conditions, with temperatures ranging from -5°C to +50°C

WIL has been certified by Chief Quality Assurance Establishment (Engineering Equipment) of the Indian Ministry of Defence for manufacture of 110 feet Bailey bridge.
|
Industrial Licences
WIL holds license for manufacturing of Body Armour (viz., Bullet Proof Jackets, Vests, Helmets, Patkas, etc.)
WIL possesses industrial license (for bombs, UAVs, Gun mountings, missile systems, torpedoes, grenades, guided projectiles, mine layers, etc.) |
